| Scientists
believe that there are less than 1200 cassowaries
currently in the wild in Australia. Listed
as endangered under the Commonwealth Environment
Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act
1999 these magnificent birds continue to be
threatened by loss of habitat, roads and traffic,
dogs and hunting and natural disasters.
You can help us secure a home for future generations
of cassowaries by adopting one of the few remaining
birds and supporting Operation Big Bird.
Where your money will go
Your adoption of “Archie” or “Zelda” will
provide funds for:
- Buying cassowary habitat
- Revegetating key corridors
- Establishing pest free sanctuaries for
research and possible breeding
- And eventually release of the birds into
the wild.
How does it work?
The cost of adopting a cassowary is $1,000
and is tax deductible.
- We will issue you with an adoption certificate
in the name of the cassowary you are helping
to save.
- We will present you with a beautifully
carved wooden cassowary to commemorate your
help (pictured).
