If you are an employee:

You can become a Hero2 by making regular contributions to the ARF through your payroll – it’s quick and easy and results in an automatic tax deduction. (Talk to your HR or payroll department about this.)
Here’s how your payroll contributions will help our rainforests and fight climate change.
The Hero2 program allocates 60% of your contributions to protecting rainforest, 30% to rehabilitation and revegetation and 10% to recovery of rare, threatened or endangered fauna.

For example a tax-deductible fortnightly contribution from your payroll of $40.00 to Hero2 over 12 months;

  • Will protect 215m2 of old growth rainforest
  • And extend the rainforest by planting 39 new native trees
  • With a $104 donation going towards helping recover endangered species

This makes your annual tax-deductible contribution to the Hero2 program $1040 which will in turn help tie up approximately 33.05 tonnes of carbon in the biomass of the forest and over the life of the trees - and make a positive long-term contribution to the environment.

To double the impact we encourage you to talk to your employer about becoming a corporate Hero2 and matching your contribution.

Henry Ngai and family
Three generations of the Ngai family, owners of ABC Tissues, enjoy a visit to their World Heritage listed rainforest block with an ARF Conservation Officer.

If you are a business

The Hero2 program is an opportunity for all businesses and corporations to think globally and act locally while making a positive contribution to the environment.

“A Hero2 corporate partnership is much more than a fulfilment to corporate social responsibility; it is an effective investment in our rainforests and our planet - for now and future generations.”

Lynne Cosgrove, Patron ARF.

Through Hero2 corporate projects – protecting, recovering and extending - the ARF works
with industry and businesses on a sustainable environmental investment that not only counters that organisations carbon excess but seeks to be a leveraged investment for everyone.

An ARF Hero2 project must:

  • give added value,
  • have a positive direct impact on the Australian landscape,
  • be measurable and dynamic, and improve with age and
  • must leave a positive legacy for the next generation.

For example: ABC Tissues – Our Hero2s

ABC Tissue Products, an Australian owned tissue manufacturer established in Australia in 1985, with manufacturing sites located in NSW, QLD and New Zealand, has a commitment to the continued introduction of manufacturing procedures and policies designed to assist in the future protection of our environment. As part of its corporate strategy ABC is a signatory to the National Packaging Covenant. ABC stands for Australia Better Choice.

In 2007 ABC looked at the value of their environmental brand, Naturale. A toilet tissue
manufactured from recycled white office paper. They believed they had a responsibility to drive the recycled tissue segment to reduce land fill and felt a dynamic branding exercise with the ARF was the best way forward to show their continued commitment to leave only a positive impact on the environment.

ABC Tissues has purchased freehold Daintree rainforest for conservation, extending parts of the mega diverse global treasure through a 4,500 rainforest tree revegetation project and contributing to the operating costs of a cassowary hospital, through a royalty deal between the Foundation and ABC Tissues on product sales.
